Confidential
Waste Disposal
State defence secrets and other sensitive
material certainly justify shredding, but it is doubtful that all classes
of confidential material warrant this expensive treatment. Confidentiality
is a matter either of degree or the need for compliance with the Data Protection
Act, and a more economical option may be possible such as a limited certificate
of disposal. This often specifies the disposal route of a particular consignment,
generally to a named merchant who will bale and forward to a re-pulping mill
for destruction.
