Site Survey
Traditions Pest control team will survey the premises before action is taken
so that their is a full and complete understanding of the problem area. Many
pest problems are a lot more severe than they appear. Each survey is Free
of charge and can be arranged within 24 hours.
COSHH
The COSHH regulations require us to assess the risks that may accompany the
use of any hazardous substance in the working enviromentand to take reasonable
measures to protect against, or minimize, that risk. Our company policy is
to meet all our legal obligations and to keep our customers constantly up
to date with the chemicals we have used during our treatments.
Rodents
Rodents are a major problem because of the disease they transmit and the integral
damage they cause. Damage is caused by gnawing woodwork, pipes, wires etc.
Under the Prevention of Damage by Pests it is an offense to knowing harbor
rodents in any premises and you can be prosecuted
Rats are breeding so much that there is now one for every person in Britain.
It is estimated that you are never more than nine meter away from a rat at
any one time.
The main disease carried by rats is Weils Disease also known as Leptospirosis.
It is thought about 30% of rats carry the disease and there are on average
50 deaths in the U.K. each year from the problem. Traditions pest control
team will take the appropriate methods once the survey has been undertaken.
Birds
Most birds dont present a problem at all, but a few species become pests due
to concentrated populations or the environments they inhabit. Nesting materials,
fouling and accumulated debris frequently lead to blocked gutters and downpipes.
Bird fouling erodes stone work which can lead to expensive maintenance work.
Birds can also be a threat to human health as they can carry a number of diseases
including Histoplasma capsulatum, Campylobacter, Listeria, Salmonella and
Ornithosis (Chlamydia psittcci). Pigeons also carry many unpleasant insects
in their feathers, which include fleas, mites, ticks, lice, carpet beetles
and many others.
Proofing involves the installation of permanent deterrents to the building
to prevent pigeons or other birds from roosting. The deterrents include plastic
spikes, repellent Gel, polyethene netting and sonic scaring. Reducing bird
populations can sometimes call for more conclusive measures, although discretion
in use is guaranteed. Live trapping, Narcotizing, shooting and Nursery clearance
are the other methods.
Fleas
There are around three thousand known species of flea but the most predominant
is the cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis) and is responsible for about 70% of
all complaints. Fleas can be eradicated from an area with a flea spray rather
than the messy and unreliable powder.
